What if…
…it’s all a giantific, decades old MK Ultra party going on? Wouldn’t this be the most mature of all conspiracy theories? I heard MK Ultra experimented with cannabis and also rumours they had a direct link to psychiatric institutions. How far does this influence, if it is or was ever there, reach into subculture? Are there clear boundaries between agents and "patients", "guinea pigs", whatever we wanna call them? Why is there a seeming friendship between the two parties? If it’s about experimenting with the psyche can both parties be divided anyhow? Are social relationships and communication so important that the agents have to go part of the way with the patients?
These are extremely paranoid thoughts. I don’t think I am really paranoid because it’s not an obsessive belief to me but because I only wonder about it and know that it’s paranoid. Even if we would find this theory to be plausible it wouldn’t mean it is true as anybody who is experienced in individual paradigm shifting and conspiracy theories will understand. But what if the doubting of the theory although it might seem plausible is itself part of a brainwashing experiment? Now, believing in the theory could shape all experience so that it would affirm the theory which would actually mean to start an adventure. Such an experience would then offer a lot of potential for conflict, of course. Normally you would want to avoid the conflict. But paranoids who start believing in such a theory seem to want the conflict. Is it that they have other, subconscious reasons for wanting the conflict even if the theory is not true?
Could we be saying that in magic it’s useful to choose a paradigm other than a conspiracy theory, but with just as many possibilites of shaping experience just with a more positve outcome than the conflict that could be the effect of a conspiracy theory? If i would give that a try now, would I just deliberately do my own brainwashing while I’m actually being in a brainwashing experiment?
I better stop now, I think, before I give rise to any real paranoia here.
