Its been a while since I’ve been active on this blog, for many reasons including moving home, city and job. I am finally more settled again, but my time is currently taken up working on a new and improved KIA website with many new features. More on that in a later blog.

My teaching work has almost finished so I’ll have much more free time soon and can contribute more again.

I did however manage to find time to attend part of the Metageum Megalith conference as Treadwell’s, which really should have been called the Psychedelic Stoner’s conference, particularly afterwards. Gyrus gave an excellent talk on the history of consciousness there, but I also found a dowser called Tom Graves very interesting, who’d combined Ramsey Duke’s fourfold scheme with his own experience of dowsing and magic, which while strangely presented like a corporate seminar (his earning mode it seems) was packed with very useful insights. I particularly like his ethos of ‘quality’ over ‘newage’ (meant to rhyme with sewage), which put my own rants on ‘elite practise’ into a better context, as well as his emphasis on the wyrd and anarchic chaos. Kingston council has gained a possession order on Raven’s Ait and if an appeal is not in on time at high court Monday eviction may occur at noon that day. The nacent eco-community there is thus calling as many people as possible to the island this weekend with the possibility of defending it on Monday. Please spread the word to all who can help.

The Dionysian Underground is particularly interested in this site as a possible venue as for a DU Conference in May. But we and the broader anarcho-pagan community support it more generally as a potentially major transformative centre at a magical locus.

A man lost two buttons from his shirt and put them in his pants
pocket. But the pocket had a hole, so the buttons fell into his shoe.
Unfortunately, the shoe sole also had a hole, so he lost the buttons.

Since pockets with holes, holes without buttons, and shoe soles with
holes are useless, the man ripped the buttonholes out of his shirt and
the pocket from his pants and tossed them in the trash along with the
soles of his shoes. After looking in a mirror at the holes in his
clothing, he decided to toss his clothes in the trash as well.

A policeman observed all this and asked the man for identification.
The man produced a document that he was an ordained minister of the
gospel.

So, of course, the policeman promptly escorted him to a mental
institution. The minister protested violently, asking why he was
receiving such unjust treatment.

“Look, it’s the best place for you now,” the policeman replied.
“Anyone claiming to be a preacher, but who doesn’t save souls or wear
holy clothes has probably lost his buttons.”
