Last week we went for a walk to the park. It was a beautiful warm evening. Once we got to the top of the hill, the full moon appeared from behind the clouds shining very brightly in the middle of the sky. We took lots of photos and after a while decided to go home. We were on the path leading out of the park when Anton noticed two foxes running around, down the hill. They were quite close to us so we stopped to watch them. I tried to film them on my photo camera, but it was a bit too dark. We kneeled on the path to see them better, we looked around noticing that on our left there was another fox two or three meters away from us. It seem not to notice us until this moment. It turned back and ran away into the darkness. The other two foxes disappeared as well so we decided to follow the third one. Then we saw a fox running up the alley and another one just simply sitting in the middle of a grassy slope, overlooking a street. We came down to the street and went as close to the fox as possible. It definitely noticed us, but wasn't afraid at all. It was just sitting there relaxed watching us, same as we watched it. Then the other one came and sit down near by the other one. We were standing there looking at them until we felt it was time to go home. On the way back we saw another fox running near by the cathedral. It was an amazing experience. I've never seen foxes from so close.
This park seems to be full of friendly animals. I remember the squirrel that came to me in winter. I kneeled on the path to take some photos of it. It came very close to me and even tried to steal some shopping from my carrier bag. It is nice to see animals being comfortable with people, rather than being afraid of them.

Just a quick blog to describe a magickal experience under the full moon that I enjoyed with Lolita Purderabo last night. We had just enjoyed a pint at one of Bristols fine drinking establishments and decided it would be nice to take a walk through the folly, aka Cabot Tower. It was night but well lit because of the full moon and plenty of lanterns. It was also on our way home.

After we were coming down from the tower, we noticed something remarkable. There was a fox right near us in the park. Just wondering around and lurking in the shadows. We stopped to take a look and crouched down to see. It was nonchalently walking around, slightly too far away for my phone cam to get a good shot, but close enough for us to get a good look at it. But then I turned around to find another second fox was right behind us on the path only a couple of meters away, looking at us quite curiously! Then another showed up. There was also a very strong musky smell of them, recognisably fox.

We really don’t know how many there were. We only saw three at any one time, but it may not have been the same three as some seemed to wander in one direction only for another to come from somewhere else. I don’t know how long we spent just staying still quietly watching the foxes as the in turn watched us, but all in all it was a very enchanted evening and we felt rather blessed and privileged to have experienced such a magical moment…

…it is just the latest in many special moments we have enjoyed this year in which we have had rare and special connections to nature, but the first I have decided to share here on serpent. The first of many I hope. I’ll write an update when we’ve got some photo’s online.
