Hello all you Children of the Apple out there!

Time for another Liber Malorum - Children Of The Apple chapter release. I've decided not to do them in sequential order, but to release them in the order that events unfold in my life. Without revealing too much of my inner world here, the next chapter I'm putting out into the world is Chapter 57 - Do You Want To Believe? - by Frater Carfax. This magnificent story has many hidden facets to it, not least of which are hidden behind the lead two characters' names.

Hello Dear Children Of The Apple,

It has been a very exciting first year for us here at PagAnarchy Press. Not only has our first book release been a pleasantly surprising success on the occult scene, but we now have a few more items lining up ready to be released in the new year. I'll post more about that when the details are confirmed but let's just say it is going to be bloody and awesome.

What I really wanted to tell you is that we now have a big stash of Liber Malorums sitting in our warehouse(1) and we are able to shift them at discounted prices. Whilst you can still get Liber Malorum over at Amazon.co.uk, we are able to get it to you cheaper than they are. Check out our new Ordering Page for details.

So a big nyah nyah nyah to them, and a big happy Solstice, Chrimbo and Hannuka to you.

Best wishes to all from us all here at PagAnarchy Press.

Hello all, it's time for another chapter release!

Regular readers of this blog will know I'm slowly releasing Liber Malorum - children of the Apple onto the web for all to read and it's time for another chapter - Oath of the Conscious Metanoid by Nathaniel Harris - to be set free.

I've previously released only shorter chunks of the book, but here is the first full-length story that appears within Liber Malorum. I put this story in early as it really packs a punch and introduces some pretty interesting concepts. Oath of the Conscious Metanoid presents readers with their first opportunity to join the Order of the Imaginary Conspiracy. Dare you?

Nathaniel Harris is a multimedia artist with over 23 years experience in sorcery, witchcraft, and magick.
Hello all, it’s time for another chapter release!

Regular readers of this blog will know I’m slowly releasing Liber Malorum – children of the Apple onto the web for all to read and it’s time for another chapter – Oath of the Conscious Metanoid by Nathaniel Harris – to be set free.

I’ve previously released only shorter chunks of the book, but here is the first full-length story that appears within Liber Malorum. I put this story in early as it really packs a punch and introduces some pretty interesting concepts. Oath of the Conscious Metanoid presents readers with their first opportunity to join the Order of the Imaginary Conspiracy. Dare you?

A little while ago I read Liber Malorum – Children of the Apple, a collection of short stories themed on “sex, drugs, witchcraft, anarchy and apples.” and I so enjoyed reading it that I promised Sean I would write a review.

Well its been a while now and I still haven’t written one and to be honest I’m not sure I can. For one thing I am one of the authors who actually have a short story in the book, so would it be right for me to review it? Well certainly not without pointing out my obvious bias it isn’t. In any case, a promise is a promise so I guess I ought to at least write some kind of opinion on this book.

The book basically contains a number of short stories by 23 authors, woven together with poems and extracts from Robert Anton Wilson, the Principia Discordia, Timothy Leary, William Blake, Hakim Bey, Peter J Carroll and various others, including a story by ‘The Weaver’, that comes in fragments woven in and out between the other stories.

I enjoyed most of the stories present, although a few, for me, stood out as worthy of special mention. Oath of the Conscious Metanoid by Nathaniel Harris reminded me of precisely why I used to like Discordianism in the first place. Absurdist humour combined with dark truths for those prepared to see them. This is the one story that got me actively engaged in real activities as part of the process of reading it. That’s above and beyond the call of duty for fiction…

At first I didn’t care much for Passion by DJ Lawrence. It reminded me of everything I was bored of in the Chaos Magic and left hand path occult scene. Arrogant magicians using guilty rationalisations to justify cursing people whose only crime was to upset said magicians oh so sensitive feelings. But actually, this story is not what it at first seems, and ultimately it is one of my favourite stories in the book. Its a shame no-one seems to have heard from DJ (and his website, chaosmagic.com is still 404) in a while as this story makes me want to congratulate him on a job well done.

Also worthy of mentions are:

The Orchard of Becoming by Frater Kaotec, a brooding horror yarn with a nod to Lovecraft

Diana Nemorensis by David Blank, a delightful fantasy involving eco warriors, bulldozers and the supernatural

Queering the System by Jet Moon, a romantic comedy about gay anarcho-activists

In Dreams of Gold by Jaq D Hawkins, a gripping fantasy adventure involving pirates and strange sea monsters…

Avalons Apples by Stella Damiana, a tale about the whims of goddesses and the games they play with mortals, and of initiation to the mysteries

You definitely get your money’s worth with this book, and I highly recommend reading it if you get a chance. I first read it cover to cover, and a certain magic does unfold when you read it that way, although I expect in future readings I will return to my favourites in what ever order takes my fancy.
