I spent last weekend on camping with friends in Cheddar. It is a place where the real cheddar cheese is produced. Cheddar is a town lying at the foot of the gorge that reaches 120 meters at its peak. The view from the top of the cliff is amazing. You can see the rocks on the other side of the gorge and wild goats feeding on the steep slopes. It is truly impressive.

Spending time in wild places can refresh and empower me for a long time. Being close with nature seem necessary to me to maintain physical and psychical  health.  Contact with nature is magickally empowering in all possible senses. Being in nature can be much more powerful and inspiring than ritual performed at home. That is because in wild places magick just happens before your eyes. You don’t need to imagine, visualize anything. It is all there.

On Sunday we went for a walk to the top of the gorge. We were walking down the cliff to the viewpoint. On the side from the path there was small thicket and in there were goats, lots of them. In front of us there was very old, huge goat with long massive horns!
Absolutely beautiful. We stopped to look at him. He wasn’t bothered by us at all. Being on his own territory he knew we were not a threat. He was lying on the grass, looking at us and smiling.  It felt like being greeted by divine being. This goat is an extraordinary creature and very magickal indeed. I had a strong sense of mutual respect and recognition. We just felt personally contacted by this Spirit.  Unforgettable experience. It was amazing that we all felt totally safe in front of this strong, big wild animal. We felt such a friendliness, kindness and wisdom emanating from him. Very warm, loving feeling. He seemed so proud and confident and incredibly cute in its own way (at least to me).

A mighty big Happy April Fools day to all you Children of the Apple out there! Time to release another chapter of Liber Malorum!! Do What Thou Wilt Shall Be The Whole Of The Law.

Oh dear. I just had word that my first real occult teacher has passed to the other side and so I thought I’d write a few words to honour him, and my memory of my time under his tutelage.

Barry Salkilld, known as Frater C.D. was the founding member and Imperator (leader) of the Order of the Golden Phoenix, which was abbreviated into O.P.A. being the initials of the Latin name of the Order. Barry was a very headstrong man, down-to-earth yet noble to the point of being a damned annoying bastard at times.

I first came to the O.P.A. at age 21 on recommendation by a member of my family when I wanted to start investigating the unseen forces that existed in the world. I had been brought up vaguely Jewish but a strong curious mind soon had me testing and exploring other religious systems and traditions. It only took a couple of phone calls and soon I was off to the venue in Summer Hill known to me then only as The Abbey.

Regular readers of this blog will know I’m slowly releasing Liber Malorum – children of the Apple onto the web for all to read and it’s time for another chapter – Oath of the Conscious Metanoid by Nathaniel Harris – to be set free.

I’ve previously released only shorter chunks of the book, but here is the first full-length story that appears within Liber Malorum. I put this story in early as it really packs a punch and introduces some pretty interesting concepts. Oath of the Conscious Metanoid presents readers with their first opportunity to join the Order of the Imaginary Conspiracy. Dare you?

Nathaniel Harris is a multimedia artist with over 23 years experience in sorcery, witchcraft, and magick. A strong willed individual who cannot abide hypocrisy or obsequious office seeing, he generally steers clear of anyone who claims to be a part of the wider (non-existent, according to Nathaniel) ‘occult community’.
