Maybe this has shown already in other posts of the last months: I have come to look back more, identifying long term effects of magic. I wonder are any of the lurkers which seem to be around interested youngsters, who are merely starting it all? I feel like saying some things clearly to those, if they read it…
The development that drew me to magic started effectively with 16, I was 17 when I produced a first deliberate result. Now I am 30. My life is not perfect. But with 16, life seemed unbearable to me. Now, life has got a strong appeal to me, or rather it has a charm, or rather it’s a lot of fun. Some major wishes I had when I was 16 are fulfilled by now and stay fulfilled, some were not. There were several instances of little fun things happening which I had wished for, too.
There was more than one crisis on the path – I can call it a path by now, there’s a path-structure to it. C.G. Jung tells you openly there can be a crisis or several on the path he suggested, the Golden Dawn doesn’t deny there can be such things on their suggested path.
I have been learning all the time, in fact I keep learning and am happy about it. Many questions I had with 16 were answered, so that I know.
And even that fear of death thingy, you know?
So it’s worth it, I would say.
Any advice I could give? I could write very long reading lists with the result, that you check out some of the books I recommend, and they don’t illuminate you the way they illuminated me, because it’s all different to you.
Finding the way is part of the way, it changes you to the better, you’ll see.
If you still urgently want me to pin down advice I say the following, expecting that contradictory advice from somebody else could even work in some cases:
Meditate!
Don’t be narrow-minded! Search beyond what is labeled "occult" and don’t give a damn what other people tell you about that!
Don’t show off you’re into magic to everyone! You gotta be careful in this world! It could become less problematic when you’re older, but for now, be careful!
Have no fear!
Some here are older than me. I guess they could say something additionally. *nudge*

Over on Facebook I was asked what are the 15 books that have most shaped who I am today. I filled it in there and have decided to repost it here onto my public blog. These are the books that have most monumentally changed the way I think and feel about the world at large (not in order):

Hello all you Children of the Apple out there!
Time for another Liber Malorum – Children Of The Apple chapter release. I’ve decided not to do them in sequential order, but to release them in the order that events unfold in my life. Without revealing too much of my inner world here, the next chapter I’m putting out into the world is Chapter 57 – Do You Want To Believe? – by Frater Carfax. This magnificent story has many hidden facets to it, not least of which are hidden behind the lead two characters’ names.

Do What Thou Wilt Shall Be The Whole Of The Law.
Oh dear. I just had word that my first real occult teacher has passed to the other side and so I thought I’d write a few words to honour him, and my memory of my time under his tutelage.
Barry Salkilld, known as Frater C.D. was the founding member and Imperator (leader) of the Order of the Golden Phoenix, which was abbreviated into O.P.A. being the initials of the Latin name of the Order. Barry was a very headstrong man, down-to-earth yet noble to the point of being a damned annoying bastard at times.
I first came to the O.P.A. at age 21 on recommendation by a member of my family when I wanted to start investigating the unseen forces that existed in the world. I had been brought up vaguely Jewish but a strong curious mind soon had me testing and exploring other religious systems and traditions. It only took a couple of phone calls and soon I was off to the venue in Summer Hill known to me then only as The Abbey.

Hello Dear Children Of The Apple,
It has been a very exciting first year for us here at PagAnarchy Press. Not only has our first book release been a pleasantly surprising success on the occult scene, but we now have a few more items lining up ready to be released in the new year. I’ll post more about that when the details are confirmed but let’s just say it is going to be bloody and awesome.
What I really wanted to tell you is that we now have a big stash of Liber Malorums sitting in our warehouse(1) and we are able to shift them at discounted prices. Whilst you can still get Liber Malorum over at Amazon.co.uk, we are able to get it to you cheaper than they are. Check out our new Ordering Page for details.
So a big nyah nyah nyah to them, and a big happy Solstice, Chrimbo and Hannuka to you.
Best wishes to all from us all here at PagAnarchy Press.

As many of you may or may not have known, I have in the past written many an article for a website known as key23. This changed its name to key64 a short time ago and as a consequence when I set up the links for this blog, I added key64 instead of key23.
